Moana Nursery switched to Asset after frustrations with other software.
What motivated you to look for a new software solution?
After eight years on another platform, it had become increasingly clear that our $5MM+ landscape services, construction and maintenance business needed a system that was more user-friendly and forgiving (making corrections/fixing user errors). Our teammates did not get into this industry to sit behind a computer and they certainly didn’t want to become accountants or data analysts; nor did we want them to be.
What was your process for selecting new software candidates?
We looked for a combination of features based on frustrations with the current system that had been experienced by nearly every department, from estimating to scheduling to purchasing. These desired features included power, robustness, flexibility, ease of use, and especially the integration of every aspect of our business.
How did you decide on Asset?
We were extremely impressed at how the software can help answer business questions in real time and save us from having to search for the details. The information, all of the information, is easily available thanks to the smart integration of the entire business process.
Asset’s data analysis capabilities are staggering and easy to use. Its incredible filtering function allows information to be appropriately grouped, reviewed and analyzed in a multitude of ways. Identifying problems to fix and successes to replicate has never been easier.
The user interface is simple and tailored each user’s position in the organization. This sets our people free to do what they do best, and not waste time wrestling with software problems.
What was the implementation process like?
Include Software provided substantial training resources including a highly structured implementation plan, weekly one-on-one training (70+ hours), homework exercises, testing, 90+ on demand training videos, a superb help menu and a test system that let us explore/practice in the software before our system was ready.
We knew going in that this would be a significant, company-wide transformation, requiring a dedication of time and resources to make it work. This was a big key to our success. We would tell any business considering Asset that they will have to be open and willing to change. They should assign a champion who has the authority to manage the multi-month implementation/training process. And the last thing we would tell them is that they will get back many times what they put into it.
How has Asset made a difference for your company?
As a company who has recently gone live, we can attest that the effort of implementation was more than worth it. Each day we are becoming a better-run company in all phases of our business, rather than just achieving incremental improvements in the problem areas that demanded the most attention. We only wish we had done it sooner.
